1990s A flight attendant serving customers in the First Class cabin of a Pan Am Airbus A310.  Pan Am used the long range, medium sized A310s to offer nonstop service from New York to smaller European cities such as Warsaw, Budapest, Oslo & Helsinki.
1991 In the mid 1980s Pan Am began to hire foreign national flight attendants.  Small bases were established in Poland, Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkey, Israel, Kenya and India.  Not only did this reduce hourly labor costs it also cut down on hotel layover costs and ensured sufficient local language skills on flights to those countries.  Here a group of Delhi based flight attendants wait in Frankfurt to board Pan Am flight 66 a 747 from New York that continued on to India.

1991 Three  generations of Pan Am flight attendant uniforms.  On the left is Pan Am's final uniform.  Originally designed by Adolfo in the 1980s and later modified to include the round neck tie pictured.  The 1970s Edith Head uniform with signature red, white and blue scarf is worn by the flight attendant on the right (in Pan Am blue) and second from left (Navy Blue).  The early 1960s uniform designed by Don Loper is seen on the flight attendant second from the right.
1991 Within a few days of Pan Am's final flight in December employees gathered at the company's former flying boat base at Dinner Key in Miami, Florida for a memorial to the company.  Everybody wore their uniforms one last time.

In 1994 a plaque was dedicated to the memory of Pan Am in the lobby of what had been the Pan Am Building and is now the Met Life Building.  Pan Am employees were invited to participate and encouraged to wear old uniforms.  Madeline Cuniff, Pan Am's first female flight attendant can be seen in the red scarf posing with former colleagues at the dedication.
