1974 October, Pan Am Aware Committee member Felicia Fairchild encourages employees to write their elected officials in support of Pan Am against unfair competition from state owned foreign airlines.
1970s Before initiating a dedicated Business Class in 1980 Pan Am experimented with a Frequent Traveler area just behind First Class on the 747 fleet.  This section had fold down middle seat backs and whenever possible Pan Am kept children out of this section of the aircraft.

1970 All of Pan Am's original 747 fleet were delivered from the Boeing Company with an upper deck lounge.  In the 1973-4 time period Pan Am converted the lounges to dinning rooms that accomodated 14.

1974, Pan Am leased a 747 to Air Zaire for several years.  As part of the service contract Pan Am trained flight attendants for both safety and service.  Here a Pan Am Purser explains service procedures to Air Zaire trainees.

1977 Anne Morrow Lindbergh christens a Boeing 747SP after her late husband, Charles Lindbergh who was a Pan Am consultant from the late 1920s until his death.  The Lindberghs were personal friends of Pan Am founder Juan Trippe and his wife Betty Trippe.

1978 Pan Am Executive Dan Colussy who rose through the ranks to become President of the company.
1979 An early version of Pan Am's Clipper Class (Business Class) with economy seats.  In 1980 Pan Am would introduce a larger Clipper Class seat.

1976 First Lady, Betty Ford,  Christens a Pan Am Boeing 747SP.  Pan Am had a long tradition of First Ladies Christening new aircraft types dating back to Mrs. Herbert Hoover.
1970s From the mid 1960s until the late 1970s when Delta Air Lines received its first London route authority Pan Am and Delta had an 'interchange' route.  Th flight began in Atlanta made a stop in Washington DC and then continued on to London.  A Delta crew operated the flight from Atlanta to Washington and a Pan Am crew took the flight onward to London.  On the return service a Pan Am crew brought the flight in from London and then a Delta crew took over for the final segment to Atlanta.  At different times of the year a Pan Am aircraft served on the route and at other times a Delta Aircraft served the route.  This gave Delta a branding presence in Europe and Pan Am a branding presence in Atlanta.
